Código militar y filosófico elaborado en el estado coreano de Silla durante el s.

VI. Constituyó la base de la formación de una selecta sociedad de jóvenes guerreros llamados hwarang, quienes contribuyeron a unificar Corea bajo la dinastía Silla (668–935). Su código moral, derivado del budismo y el confucianismo, enfatizaba la lealtad al rey, la devoción filial, la lealtad a los amigos, el valor en la batalla y la perversidad de la matanza indiscriminada. Los hwarang fueron disueltos durante la dinastía Choson (1392–1910), pero el interés en el código renació a fines del s. XX con un estilo de arte marcial coreano que ha sido llamado hwarangdo.
